The TrailRoute Layer is derived from the Trail Segment layer and should never be edited directly. To build the TrailRoute layer:

  1. Dissolve the TrailSegment feature class on the following fields TrailName, ParkName, Surface, RouteType, Hike, Bike, EBike, Scooter, Equestrian, TrailStatusTags, DisolvedTrailID, ParkID_fk

  2. Delete existing TrailRoute records

  3. Append Dissolved Layer

  4. Calculate Miles and default Values for TrailStatus

There is a ArcGIS ModelBuilder model to automate this process. It's path will be added here once finalized.

A Trail Routes is a collection of contiguous Trail Segments that share common Recreational Uses.
